Amherst Declaration of Global Citizenship
Dear Global Citizen;
The Amherst Declaration on Global Citizenship is a statementof the values and principles for the growing number of people around the worldwho view themselves not only as citizens of their home countries, but as globalcitizens. It reflects a felt need for an expression of identity on behalf ofthose of us who want to be a part of an emerging values-based world community.
The Declaration was launched by The Global Citizens’Initiative (TGCI), a non-profit international organization. It was drafted bycitizens from 9 countries who participated in a TGCI leadership trainingprogram in Amherst, Massachusetts in July 2012.
The drafters of the Declaration seek to have one thousandpeople or more from every country in in the world sign the Declaration (i.e. anestimated 200,000 people from countries around the world). It will then bepresented to the heads of G 20 countries, the Secretary-General of the UnitedNations, and other world leaders.

If your organizationis interested in co-sponsoring the Declaration, please email declaration@gcitizen.org or write to uswith a letter of commitment and your organization’s logo. We will establish alink for co-sponsoring organizations on our website and will also place theirlogo on the list of co-sponsoring organizations when the Declaration isdelivered to world leaders.
