Project “Evenki Heritage”

Description:
This project aims to preserve the Evenki language and traditional activities that are integral part of Evenki culture of Khabarovsk Krai, Russian Federation. The project will increase interest in Evenki language and culture through the creation of children’s club of native language and culture in village Nelkan of Ayano-Maisky region of Khabarovsk Krai. It will also foster formation of core activist group that would work on creation of cultural center and the development of language and culture of the Evenki of Ayano-Maisky region.

Project “Keto Summer School”

Description:
The project is a 15-day summer camp for 15-20 school children during summer vacations near Kellog village, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. Residents of native Keto village Kellog try to bring their children to the traditions and customs of Keto people, who preserved the principles of unity with nature: communion with which is not only through physical contact, but also through connection with the soul and spirit of every life form. The best time for children to communicate in native language is in nature, away from civilization, where the children feel at ease, more relaxed. Summer camp in the nature setting will teach children Keto language skills and traditional crafts.

Project “Sarbaga”

Description:
Project “Sarbaga” will be held in the native Teleut village Beks, Belovo district, Kemerovo region, Russia during the summer of 2010. The project will organize summer language school: lessons in native language, lessons on the history of Teleut people, and readings in Teleut language for school children and all interested persons for the three summer months. Teleut teachers with excellent command of Teleut language and experts in the field of cultural history will conduct lessons. At the beginning and the end of the project surveys will be conducted among Teleuts attending lectures and readings for subsequent evaluation of the project. Total number of persons engaged in the lessons on Teleut language and national culture will be over 100 and of different age groups.

Project “Shor Traditional Crafts”

  Tashtagol, Kemerovo region, Russia

Description:
Shor people from ancient times to the present day produced and used wooden bowls and utensils in everyday life. These were ecologically clean utensils, which not only stored food for a long time, but also transferred the energy of the trees to the food products, so these utensils were doubly useful to humans. This project will engage children from Tashtagol city and village Chulesh in the traditional crafts of making baskets from birch bark. The lessons will be conducted over a period of one week in village Chulesh near Tashtagol city, Kemerovo, Russia.

Project “Udege Summer Field School”

  Primorye, Russia

Description:
The project will organize Udege language lessons for 20-30 school-age children in the village Krasnyi Yar, Primorye Region, Russia. Studies are conducted in the classroom, a specially equipped room, and in the nature. The combination of game-form of the lessons and the study of wildlife in the field through Udege language results in a greater interest from the young people. It also helps to involve youth in interesting and entertaining pastime during the summer and promote Udege language not only among the younger generation Udege but children of other nationalities living in the village. 

Project “Conservation of Dolgan language”

  Taimyr, Russia
Language: Dolgan
Description:
The project will publish 100 copies of an illustrated training manual on Dolgan language to help Dolgan language instruction for school aged children. The instruction is conducted at nature reserve of Taimyr through the Museum of Ethnography and Natural History.
