March is Women's History Month, and I would like to start by acknowledging, saluting, and honoring Palestinian women for their immense contributions to the liberation movement for a free Palestine. We also remember and mourn all the women poets, writers, artists, journalists, and aid workers killed by the Israeli bombardment in Gaza over the past 155 days. We salute the women of Gaza for their struggle and resilience and, above all, for the humanity they have shown us during their daily fight for their families’ lives amid the horrific deprivation of food, safe drinking water, and healthcare that is being imposed on the people of Gaza. We salute the mothers who are forced to skip meals so they can feed their children, the mothers who carry their babies in their wombs only to have to carry them again to their burial ground, the pregnant mothers who have no safe place to give birth and no access to clean water, and the mothers who have watched their children being gunned down during the Israeli flour massacres. And we salute all the women who are protesting, speaking out, and raising their voices to demand an immediate ceasefire and an end to oppression, apartheid, and occupation. We are with you with every breath and every heartbeat.
During National Women’s History Month—and each and every day—we also acknowledge, salute, and honor all the amazing women who are part of the Interlink family: poets, novelists, journalists, children’s books authors and illustrators, cookbook authors and photographers, and many others who have enriched our lives through their work and for the important role they are playing in literary circles as well as for their efforts in driving change, advancing gender justice, and illuminating the terror of War.

While we remain a long way away from achieving gender parity and equality, it is vital that we come together as a community in order to face the ongoing challenges and threats to women's rights. We have learned the hard way that rights simply won once is not enough; they must be safeguarded.
